Snowshoeing

One of the best things about snowshoeing (besides the breathtaking scenery and healing peace and quiet) is that you never have to wait in line. Every good summer trail in the area is a whole new experience in the winter with a pair of snowshoes.

Snowshoes can be purchased at Currier’s Market, as well as all the local sports shops.

Cross Country Skiing

Burke Mountain Cross Country Ski Center – ski touring enthusiasts will enjoy some of the prettiest and least tamed wilderness and hillsides to be found anywhere. 80 km of terrain are offered, with loops that range from 1-12 km for skiers of every ability level. (802) 786-8338

The Kingdom Trails Association – spearheaded by the folks at , the Kingdom Trails are a 100-mile trail network (Vermont’s largest recreation trail system) that is ideal for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing – a well kept secret that begs to be explored!

Northwood’s Stewardship Center
– 30km network of signed trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. These quiet paths wind through 2,700 acres of forested and open landscapes and reveal stunning views of the Clyde River Valley and beyond.

Pisgah Mountain – another fantastic snowshoe trek for the hearty is a winter hike up the Pisgah Mountain trails.

Westmore Wilderness Trails – located at the south end of Lake Willoughby, offering quiet exploration for those looking to get away from the crowds.
